Starting in the nineties as violist of the Ensemble Antipodes (Winner of the Migros Chamber Music Competition 1999 and in 2005 Ensemble in Residence of the International ISCM Amsterdam) and tours with the Streiff Trio gave me a fine balance of the near orchestral experience of Schubert’s Octet and the small intricate work of a string trio.
In recent year, the work in the 3G string quartet has resulted in reference recordings of the string quartets of Klaus Huber and Swiss composer Heidi Baader-Nobs, who subsequently flatteringly dedicated her Viola concerto to me (Heidi does not flatter, she is one of the most outspoken people I know, so I was flattered).
Very special is my work in the Ensemble vanderWaals, a double cello quintet – so I am all alone vs two violins and two Celli: Boccherini and new works written for us! Again very special: Most recently I have had extensive concert projects with the Flautist Johannes Hustedt and with my partner Egidius Streiff – for which ensemble I notably arranged „über die Linie 6“, a lovely work by Wolfgang Rihm, something he had suggested to us a while ago. We are quite sure, he’d be proud.
With my pianist Gregorio Nardi I will do the Märchenbilder in Firenze again, what a treat. Come and hear us in June 2026!
